Artist's Description
This was the first painting I did from the pile of material I collected during our very productive May (2013) trip to Ohio and Michigan. I came across this Ovenbird walking a trail in the Grass River Natural Area near Bellaire MI. Ovenbirds are easily heard with their emphatic "teacher,TEA-cher,TEACHER" call, but can be quite difficult to spot. This fellow hopped onto a sunlit branch, giving me a brief glimpse before disappearing into the shadows.
