I did this painting from a couple of photos I took at Logan Pass in Glacier National Park. Mt. Oberlin forms the south side of Logan Pass. We visited Glacier mostly in the hope of seeing Mountain Goats at closer range than we had been able to do at Barronette Peak in Yellowstone. There, the goats were far up on a cliff that was inaccessible without technical climbing gear. I had read that on Hidden Lake Trail at Logan Pass goats were frequently close by. I made three trips up the trail during our stay, and saw goats on two of them (along with a number of other high elevation specialists).

My subject matter reflects three life-long passions: nature, history, and architecture. I have lived most of my life in New England. I love painting subjects from my home region, as well as from the travel that my wife, Linda and I enjoy doing together.
