Linda and I have seen Eastern Towhees in lots of far-flung locations, and in all kinds of climactic conditions from sub-tropical to cold and snowy New England winter. We were once entertained by the antics of a male in breeding season defending territory against a "rival" it saw in the shiny surfaces of a parked SUV (its own reflection). This individual was at the top of Grayson Highlands in southwest Virginia.

My subject matter reflects three life-long passions: nature, history, and architecture. I have lived most of my life in New England. I love painting subjects from my home region, as well as from the travel that my wife, Linda and I enjoy doing together. I paint only in watercolor, in a style that lies somewhere between impressionistic and photo-realistic.
