Artist's Description
Our cat with the unfortunate, but uncannily appropriate name "Bambi". This over-sized fluffball was Linda's mom Ruth's cat. When she passed away, she willed him to Linda - in Ruth's eyes the most valuable thing she had. Bambi was a sweet, not too bright cat who had a love/hate relationship with our other adopted cat - a former feral cat Linda named Shadow. Shadow ruled the roost and was none too happy when Bambi came to live with us. Despite his overtures, she refused to make friends with him. After awhile, it dawned on Bambi that he was quite a bit bigger than Shadow. From then on, he would periodically put Shadow in her place. Both cats ended up developing diabetes. Linda treated them both, Shadow for years, but Bambi for just a few months. We lost both of them in 2006 - Bambi to cancer and Shadow probably to her long battle with diabetes. They left a hole in our lives that we have yet to fill.

About Steve Hamlin
My subject matter reflects three life-long passions: nature, history, and architecture. I have lived most of my life in New England. I love painting subjects from my home region, as well as from the travel that my wife, Linda and I enjoy doing together. I love the transparency and immediacy of watercolors and celebrate the happy accidents of the medium, as well as its challenges. After many years of drawing only as a preliminary step to the main event - a painting - I've recently begun drawing as an end in itself again. Please browse my catalog of drawings and paintings. If you have a comment or question, please contact me. I...
