Artist's Description
Brown Creepers are relatively common in the woods of New England, but they can be very difficult to spot. They're very well camouflaged, causing them to melt into their surroundings. It's easiest to spot the movement of them as they spiral up a tree. I photographed this Brown Creeper at Trustom Pond NWR in Rhode Island in January 2013 and did the painting from one of my photos. I love the texture of the dead tree as much as the bird. It was great fun to paint.
Completed in November, 2013. The price listed for the original includes matting, glazing and framing. Please contact me to discuss delivery arrangements if you're interested in purchasing this painting.
About Steve Hamlin
My subject matter reflects three life-long passions: nature, history, and architecture. I have lived most of my life in New England. I love the transparency and immediacy of watercolors and celebrate the happy accidents of the medium, as well as its challenges. After many years of drawing only as a preliminary step to the main event - a painting - I've recently begun drawing as an end in itself again. Please browse my catalog of drawings and paintings.
